The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Kentucky Children's Hospital needs reliable and dedicated volunteers to help provide a "place to go when you can't go home" for critical care patient families who need a break from the stress of their child's medical care but are unable to leave the hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a restful and refreshing way for families to gather just steps away from their child's hospital room. Dedicated volunteers staff the room, which offers amenities such as McDonald's coffee, snacks, toys, crayons, coloring books, puzzles and reading materials. Volunteers offer the warm welcome, hospitality, and compassionate support that is the hallmark of Ronald McDonald Charities.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and are asked to sign up for at least two three-hour shifts per month for 6 consecutive months. The Ronald McDonald Family Room is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Family Room is a partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass and the Kentucky Children's Hospital. All volunteers must go through the process of becoming a volunteer through KCH, which includes an orientation, background check, drug screen and TB test. The next orientation date is September 28, 2019.
