Hours: 3–6 hrs/week
Commitment: 6–12 months minimum
Role Summary
Provides emotional support, safety planning, and resource navigation to survivors of domestic violence. This role does not provide counseling or therapy — it offers compassionate, trauma-informed guidance, grounding, and connection to lifesaving services.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer emotional support to survivors through trauma-informed communication
- Assist survivors with safety planning (in collaboration with staff)
- Provide crisis de-escalation support when necessary
- Connect survivors to community resources (shelters, food, legal, counseling, housing)
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
- Support intake process: listening, validating, helping survivors feel safe
- Participate in outreach events and awareness activities
- Maintain professional boundaries & follow all mandatory reporting laws
- Uphold survivor-centered language and practices at all times
Qualifications
- Understanding of domestic violence, trauma responses, and survivor needs (training provided)
- Strong interpersonal skills; compassionate, patient, non-judgmental
- Ability to remain calm and present during crisis support
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical boundaries
- Previous advocacy or social service experience preferred but not required

- Must complete trauma-informed training and background check
