    Description

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Hours: 3–6 hrs/week

    Commitment: 6–12 months minimum

    Role Summary

    Provides emotional support, safety planning, and resource navigation to survivors of domestic violence. This role does not provide counseling or therapy — it offers compassionate, trauma-informed guidance, grounding, and connection to lifesaving services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Offer emotional support to survivors through trauma-informed communication
    • Assist survivors with safety planning (in collaboration with staff)
    • Provide crisis de-escalation support when necessary
    • Connect survivors to community resources (shelters, food, legal, counseling, housing)
    • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
    • Support intake process: listening, validating, helping survivors feel safe
    • Participate in outreach events and awareness activities
    • Maintain professional boundaries & follow all mandatory reporting laws
    • Uphold survivor-centered language and practices at all times

    Qualifications

    • Understanding of domestic violence, trauma responses, and survivor needs (training provided)
    • Strong interpersonal skills; compassionate, patient, non-judgmental
    • Ability to remain calm and present during crisis support
    • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical boundaries
    • Previous advocacy or social service experience preferred but not required
