Volunteer Care Companion

The Brooklyn Hospital Center is in need of dedicated volunteers to give their time as Care Companions. The Care companion will sit one-on-one with patients who have been admitted to the hospital and may need a little extra attention. Care companions will talk to patients, do activities such as puzzles or coloring with the patient, help set up their food tray and overall make the patients day just a little bit brighter.

Requirements

• Commit to one day a week three to four hours (same days, same hours)
• At least six month commitment
• Someone who has a warm heart
• Comfortable making conversation and comfort with silence as well
• Can meet patients were they are in their illness
