    Education and Events Coordinator Intern

    Dear Applicant,

    The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its project called Yiddishland California, based in San Diego, California, are looking for an Education and Events Coordinator intern. The Yiddish Arts and Academics Association of North America (YAAANA) is a registered nonprofit in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the IRC as Yiddish Arts and Academics of N America INC. Our EIN is 85-2064877. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events.     We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us. The intern will be responsible for coordinating communications with teachers, artists, other contractors, and interns, supporting class and event scheduling, assisting with program promotion, collaborating on educational initiatives, and contributing to data collection and analysis for program development. No knowledge of the Yiddish language is required. Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes, as well as access to the YAAANA archives.

    Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit. This internship is remote.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    • Communicating with YAAANA contractors, volunteers, and interns.
    • Scheduling classes and educational events.
    • Promoting classes and educational events on social media platforms.
    • Collaborating with other staff members on intensive Yiddish language and culture programs.
    • Research and analysis for program development.

    Skills Required

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
    • Strong initiative.

    Internship Outcomes

    • Interns will learn to coordinate and schedule in-person and virtual events and workshops.
    • Interns will learn to successfully communicate with attendees, event hosts, presenters, and other stakeholders.
    • Interns will learn how to troubleshoot issues that frequently arise in event planning and program coordination.

    Estimated Duration

    Full-time: preferably 8, minimum 6- week engagement with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, 270 hours total

    Part-time: preferably 16, minimum 12-week engagement with a minimum commitment of 21 hours per week, 270 hours total

    OPT: 21 hours per week, 270 hours total

    Longer internships with a less demanding time commitment are available upon request.

    If an intern wishes to receive academic credit, it is their responsibility to confirm eligibility and any approval requirements with their academic institution prior to starting the internship.
