Stoop Stories connects New York City neighbors across generations and differences to reduce loneliness and increase compassion and joy. Through documentary stories and community events, we celebrate stoop culture and highlight underrepresented communities.
We encourage BIPOC creatives to apply
Who we're looking for:
A creative, story-driven social media pro to help us grow our voice and reach across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube. This role is perfect for someone who loves community storytelling, human moments, and building a genuine social presence for a mission-driven nonprofit. You'll work alongside our Executive Director and Collective members to translate our stoop culture, docuseries, and community events into compelling content that connects.
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience managing social media for a brand, nonprofit, or creative org
- Fluency across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn (YouTube a plus)
- Strong visual eye and comfort with short-form video editing (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
- Comfort with scheduling tools (Later, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, or similar)
- Ability to write in a warm, human voice that reflects our values (Connection, Compassion, Community)
- Understanding of what resonates with intergenerational and diverse NYC audiences
- Familiarity with basic social analytics and willingness to iterate based on what works
- Self-driven; comfortable working independently and collaboratively
Project Scope & Deliverables:
- Develop and manage a monthly content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube in coordination with the content team.
- Create and schedule posts, stories, Reels, and short-form videos that reflect our voice and mission
- Repurpose existing content — docuseries clips, event photos, stories from the Collective — into fresh social content (or oversee filmmaker interns who are already doing this).
- Engage with our community: respond to comments and DMs, tag and shout out partners, boost storytellers
- Track basic performance metrics and share monthly insights with the team
- Collaborate with our editorial and production volunteers to source content
- Recommend improvements to our overall social strategy as we grow
What's in it for you?
- Build a portfolio piece with a mission-driven, award-winning nonprofit
- Make a concrete, lasting impact on our voice and community reach
- Be part of a dynamic, supportive, and inclusive team
- Receive mentoring from seasoned media producers and a professional recommendation
- Contribute to a social impact organization that connects and uplifts New Yorkers
- Potential to grow into a paid role as funding becomes available.
- Perks: free or discounted media classes.
- Good karma!
We are also looking for Board of Directors members, a CFO/Strategic Finance Advisor, a Budget & Bookkeeping Manager, and interns/volunteers across production, outreach, editorial, business strategy, and fundraising. If you'd like to get involved another way, let us know!
