College STEM Chapter President Needed at Cal State Long Beach

Are you a Cal State Long Beach student who loves STEM and wants a leadership role that actually shows up on your resume? STEM for Others is looking for a College Chapter President to launch and lead our Cal State Long Beach chapter — bringing what you're learning in your college classes to elementary, middle, and high school students in the Long Beach area.

What You'll Do as Chapter President:

• Found and lead the STEM for Others chapter at Cal State Long Beach

• Recruit and organize fellow college students as volunteer STEM mentors

• Partner with local elementary, middle, and high schools, libraries, and community centers near campus

• Lead hands-on STEM lessons, workshops, and project nights using our ready-made curriculum (coding, chemistry, engineering, math, and more)

• Share what you're studying — your major, your research, your path into STEM — with younger students who may not otherwise meet a college student in STEM

• Track your chapter's impact (students reached, hours served) and report to the national STEM for Others team

Who We're Looking For:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student at Cal State Long Beach (any major with an interest in STEM)

• Self-starter who is organized, reliable, and excited to lead

• Comfortable working with K-12 students from diverse backgrounds

• No prior teaching or leadership experience required — we provide training, curriculum, and ongoing support

Time Commitment:

• Typically 3-5 hours per week, flexible around your class schedule

• Semester or full academic year commitment preferred

• Mix of in-person activities near campus and virtual check-ins with our team
