    The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Each year, an estimated 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer, six times the number of humans affected annually in North America.

    About the position

    The volunteer Senior Recruitment Specialist manages full-cycle recruitment for a broad range of roles throughout PCF. You will proactively source, screen, interview, and evaluate candidates, build pipelines of active and passive talent, and partner closely with department leaders to understand hiring needs and deliver contributors who meet role requirements and align with PCF’s mission-driven culture. This role ensures a professional, welcoming candidate experience, represents PCF with integrity, and contributes to continuous improvement of recruitment practices to support ongoing organizational growth.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Source, screen, and interviews all candidates for assigned roles, assessing skills, fit, and alignment with PCF’s mission.
    • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand current and future hiring needs, define soft skills, and execute targeted recruitment strategies.
    • Build and maintain strong pipelines of qualified active and passive candidates for recurring and high-volume positions through proactive outreach, networking, and recruitment channels.
    • Manage the end-to-end candidate experience: communicate clearly and promptly, provide transparent updates, and represent PCF’s mission and values to create a positive, professional impression.
    • Evaluate candidates against role-specific requirements and organizational priorities, delivering well-documented interview notes to hiring leaders.
    • Provide regular progress updates, insights, and feedback to department leaders throughout the recruitment cycle.

    About You

    You’re a proactive, relationship-focused recruiter with a proven ability to attract and place strong talent for a wide variety of roles in a mission-driven organization. You thrive in a remote, volunteer-led environment, bring strong organizational skills, and take pride in delivering a positive experience for every candidate. You bring:

    • 5+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience, with success recruiting a broad range of operational, creative, support, and mid-level roles (required).
    • Expertise in active sourcing and headhunting, including building pipelines for high-volume or recurring positions.
    • Exceptional communication, networking, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly and represent PCF professionally.
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), and online job boards such as, Indeed, Idealist, etc.…
    • Excellent time management and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines, and maintain high standards in a dynamic setting.
    • Genuine passion for PCF’s mission and enthusiasm about connecting talented individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities that advance pet cancer care.
