    About LandSeed

LandSeed is a nonprofit innovating solutions to Canada’s housing crisis by leveraging technology, partnerships, and bold ideas. At this stage of rapid growth, we require a project leader who can combine strong project management skills with software knowledge to ensure our initiatives run smoothly, are well-documented, and achieve measurable results.

    How This Opportunity Benefits You

As HR Lead, you will be a founding architect of LandSeed’s people strategy. This is an opportunity to build HR processes, policies, and culture from the ground up shaping everything from recruitment pipelines to mentorship programs to performance frameworks. You’ll gain hands-on experience leading HR in a growing nonprofit, work closely with executive leadership, and play a key role in creating a workplace that is inclusive, efficient, and aligned with LandSeed’s mission. As our funding grows, this position is expected to transition into a well-compensated senior HR leadership role.

How LandSeed Benefits from Your Contribution

LandSeed will benefit from your expertise in creating structured HR systems, streamlining workflows, and ensuring that the right people are in the right roles at the right time. Your leadership will enable us to scale efficiently, maintain compliance, and foster a culture of collaboration and growth. By managing recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and HR documentation, you will help LandSeed attract top talent, retain key volunteers, and create a healthy, productive organizational culture.

    Key Responsibilities

    • HR Strategy & Leadership:
      • Develop and implement HR policies, processes, and the official LandSeed HR handbook.
      • Build a long-term HR roadmap aligned with organizational growth.
      • Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team.
    • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
      • Lead recruitment strategy, job postings, shortlisting, and interview coordination.
      • Oversee onboarding to ensure smooth transitions for new volunteers and employees.
      • Maintain a strong pipeline of talent for critical roles.
    • Culture & Engagement:
      • Design and implement mentorship programs.
      • Promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning.
      • Develop initiatives for volunteer engagement and retention.
    • HR Operations & Documentation:
      • Maintain HR files, documentation, and the HR drive (talent records, policies, etc.).
      • Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and nonprofit HR best practices.
      • Manage performance review processes and create feedback mechanisms.
    • Team Management & Development:
      • Supervise HR volunteers and coordinators.
      • Provide coaching, training, and support to ensure operational excellence.

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Minimum 4–5 years of experience in HR leadership, talent acquisition, or people operations.
    • Proven ability to build HR processes and documentation from scratch.
    • Strong understanding of recruitment pipelines, onboarding workflows, and performance management systems.
    • Experience managing a team and mentoring HR professionals.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit or volunteer-driven organizations is an asset.

    Important Note

This is a high-responsibility leadership position. Unqualified applicants are asked not to apply. We are seeking an experienced HR professional who can commit to building a scalable HR function and culture that will support LandSeed’s growth long term.
