    About Wind Haven

Wind Haven is a Christ-centered, virtual recovery campus devoted to helping survivors of abuse and toxic relationships transform into Overcomers. We provide hope, healing, and restoration through holistic programs, a custom chatbot & search engine, a digital resource center, and a safe, vibrant community. Our mission? To restore dignity, stability, and purpose through faith, truth, and action. Local projects include housing initiatives and domestic violence prevention.

    The Opportunity

We’re looking for a purpose-driven CFO & Compliance Officer to join our executive volunteer team. This person will be a key thought partner and strategist alongside the CEO and COO-someone who can help steward the financial future of Wind Haven with integrity, wisdom, and God-honoring excellence.

This is an ideal role for someone with a background in nonprofit finance who is passionate about trauma-informed ministry and wants to use their talents for Kingdom impact.

    Responsibilities

    Financial Oversight

    • Maintain and manage the organization’s financial systems (Google sheets or similar).
    • Create and monitor budgets, financial reports, and cash flow statements.
    • Support transparent and accurate bookkeeping in collaboration with the CEO.

    Fundraising & Donor Development

    • Collaborate on grant research, writing, and reporting.
    • Track and report donor gifts and ensure proper acknowledgment and documentation.
    • Help build financial sustainability plans and fundraising strategies.

    Nonprofit Compliance

    • Ensure 501(c)(3) compliance with IRS and state regulations.
    • File annual forms (990, charitable registrations, etc.).
    • Oversee audit readiness and maintain all financial documentation for accountability.

Board Member - Finance & Compliance Oversight

    • Monitor and review financial reports, filings, and statements.
    • Ensure compliance with nonprofit laws, IRS regulations, and best practices.
    • Assist with strategic fundraising, budgeting, and reporting processes.
    • Provide checks and balances by collaborating (not overlapping) with the President/CEO.
    • Advise on risks, financial sustainability, and documentation standards.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
    • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit financial management and compliance.
    • Experience with 501(c)(3) compliance, grant writing, and donor stewardship.
    • Familiarity with Google for Nonprofits Office Suite & bookkeeping/payroll software is a plus.
    • Strong ethics, integrity, and discernment (and a healthy love of spreadsheets doesn’t hurt).
    • Bonus: Understanding of trauma-informed care, domestic violence advocacy, or faith-based ministry.

    What You’ll Gain

    • A front-row seat to powerful transformation and healing.
    • Opportunities to co-create strategy and systems with a visionary, faith-driven team.
    • Kingdom impact: your skills will directly support women and families rebuilding after abuse.
    • Letters of recommendation, resume experience, and a deeply meaningful community.
    • This position has the potential to turn into a paid position contingent on funding.

    To Apply

Please fill out the questionnaire here at VolunteerMatch.org and send your resume with a short letter of interest to windhaven@windhavenfoundation.org with the subject line:

"Volunteer CFO Application - Wind Haven"

We will begin interviews as soon as we identify a strong match. This is a volunteer leadership role with flexible hours, perfect for a semi-retired professional, a finance pro wanting to give back, or a gifted steward ready to sow into a mission that matters.

Volunteers must complete a federal background check via FBI website & local vendor for fingerprinting. Due to limited funding, volunteers are responsible for the cost of their own background check.

    Thank you!

    Let’s Restore, Rebuild, and Rise-Together.

Wind Haven is an equal opportunity faith-based organization. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or background. We believe that diversity is a strength and grace is a necessity.
