A CITYWIDE CELEBRATION FOR OUR HBCU-BOUND STUDENTS
Cincinnati is coming together to celebrate the next generation of scholars heading to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Join us for the 3rd Annual The Yard: HBCU Send-Off, where students will be honored and equipped with resources as they begin their HBCU journey. This celebration is for the whole family and the entire community, bringing homecoming vibes right to the HBCU Literacy Hub at South Avondale Middle School.
Whether you’re an HBCU graduate, supporter, family member, or simply someone who wants to celebrate and uplift our students — this event is for YOU.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the HBCU Send-Off! Volunteers are welcome to support the event for one or two hours, or for as long as they are available.
The event will take place 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with event setup beginning at 10:00 AM.
We are looking for volunteers to assist in the following areas:
• Literacy station setup and support
• HBCU student check-in
• Guest registration
• Vendor check-in and vendor greeters
• Literacy support during activities
• Kids' activity area (games, art, chalk, etc.)
• Stage and program support
• Event breakdown after the program
• Cleanup support
Volunteers help ensure this celebration runs smoothly as we honor Cincinnati students heading to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. There will be free food and water!
