    THE ORGANIZATION

    Children First’s North Star goal is for all people and organizations in St. Louis Park and Hopkins, MN and the surrounding communities to be knowledgeable, strategically aligned and actively involved in increasing positive outcomes for children and youth, ensuring that kids feel included, valued and deeply connected to our caring community.

    Park Partnership for Success is Children First’s bold and innovative data-informed, cross-sector cradle to career partnership closing the race, ethnicity and poverty opportunity gaps so that all kids in St. Louis Park, MN can realize their brilliance. Our partners work collectively to improve the success of students and enrich the talent pipeline in our community. This position is critical to the success of our mission.

    A FEW IMPORTANT DETAILS

    Time commitment: Estimated 1 hour per month plus any time you spend on advancing the mission of the group outside of meetings.

    Compensation: This role is not paid and does not have employment benefits.

    Term of membership: We would like consistent participation from the group that you represent, preferably by the same person. This group does not have term limits.

    THE ROLE

    Children First is looking for dedicated community members who want to create positive change in the mental health and wellbeing of people who work, live and play in St. Louis Park, Hopkins and the surrounding area. As a member of the Mental Wellness Strategy Group (MWSG), you represent an important segment of our diverse community. Our work is grounded in equity and there might be additional learning required to help carry out the work of the group.

    This effort is in partnership with the Children First Youth For Change Coalition (Y4CC). The Y4CC is leading an effort to strengthen the mental wellness of youth and their multi-generational support systems, with Children First providing data and strategy coaches and support. Y4CC and MWSG follow a Collective Impact approach using Results Based Accountability and continuous improvement practices to carry out its mission. The Y4CC is working on reducing suicidal ideation and increasing mental thriving in youth with a special focus on LGBTQIA+ youth. Their Results Statement is: All middle and high school aged youth in St. Louis Park are mentally thriving and have hope for a fulfilled life.

    The MWSG will identify additional strategies to further the goal of reducing suicidal ideation and increasing mental thriving and hope for a fulfilled life in middle and high school youth, prioritizing LGBTQIA youth. The group will ensure the strategies are carried out with fidelity and will measure results and course correct as needed. One work product of the group will be to collaborate on reporting on the challenges and opportunities for mental wellness in our communities and recommendations for investment in proposed strategies.
