    Professional Development

    To effectively establish and operate an agritech programme intervention, consider assembling a team with the following roles:

    • Agricultural Scientists: Provide expertise in crop production, pest management, and sustainable practices.
    • Software Developers: Design and maintain digital platforms and applications.
    • Data Analysts: Interpret agricultural data to inform decisions and strategies.
    • Business Development Officers: Identify market opportunities and manage partnerships.
    • Training Coordinators: Develop and deliver educational programs for farmers and staff.
    • Community Liaison Officers: Facilitate communication between the hub and local farming communities.
    • Marketing & Communication Strategist: This project also aims to attract volunteers among other humanitarian tourists to our Community Development Programme Intervention; Hosting humanitarian tourists in Uganda - a rewarding venture that supports community development, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism.
    • Fundraiser & Resource Mobiliser through enhancing creative on-line efforts:
    • 2 (Two) non-skilled volunteers: Engaging non-skilled volunteers in our agritech programme intervention in Uganda can significantly enhance community involvement and support the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

    We are building an IDA “Environmental Education Hub” (EE Hub) in rural Kapir sub county of Ngora District-Eastern Uganda in an effort to promote practical local and Contexualized adaptation strategies to local problems and challenges. The EE Hub shall also capitalize on AGRITECH Solutions coupled with Humanitarian and Community Based Tourism. The AGRITECH component by creating a physical and virtual space where agriculture meets technology and innovation; shall also support startups, researchers, rural farmers, and entrepreneurs by providing resources, training, and access to markets or data. In an effort to promote solidarity learning and exchange, IDA EE Hub shall operate in close collaboration with the Gulu communities in Northern Uganda.

    To catalyze Uganda’s agricultural transformation by harnessing innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship—empowering smallholder farmers, boosting food systems, and building a sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient agri-economy.

    Empower Smallholder Farmers

    • Provide access to affordable digital tools, climate-smart practices, and market intelligence to improve productivity and income.

    Accelerate Innovation & Startups

    • Incubate and scale AGRITECH startups that address Uganda’s unique challenges in post-harvest handling, logistics, financing, and inputs.

    Enhance Market Access & Value Chains

    • Strengthen linkages between farmers, processors, exporters, and consumers through digital platforms and traceability systems.

    Promote Youth & Women in Agri-Business

    • Support inclusive entrepreneurship and skilling programs for Uganda’s youth and women in agriculture and technology sectors.

    Foster Research, Data, and Policy Support

    • Collaborate with universities, government, and development partners to drive evidence-based solutions and enabling policies.

    Build Resilience to Climate Change

    Background to Intercultural Development Agency (IDA); IDA is registered under Ngora District Local Government-Eastern Uganda (Kapir sub county). IDA Vision is "A poverty free citizenry of Uganda" while the Mission is "To conserve and exploit local natural resources, cultural resources and the environment towards sustainable development". While IDA focus areas are: (1) Nutritional Food security, (2) Youth Employment, (3) Child Protection, (4) Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement-Advocacy.
