    Marketing Communications Manager

    Marketing Communications Manager

Volunteer | Remote | 5-7 hours per week

    Who We Are

At Creshendo, we believe everyone deserves the chance to belong, rebuild, and rise. In partnership with displaced communities, we co-create solutions by listening deeply, collaborating intentionally, and centering lived experience.

Driven by integrity, empathy, and curiosity, we design bold, inclusive programs that reimagine what’s possible for displaced communities. If you’re passionate about challenging the status quo and driving meaningful change, you’ll feel right at home here.

    Why This Role Matters

At Creshendo, your work is more than a task list. It contributes directly to someone’s path to self-sufficiency, dignity, and belonging. Every team member plays a role in building communities where displaced people can thrive.

We are looking for a Marketing Communications Manager with at least 7 years of experience to run Creshendo’s day-to-day communications and lead a skilled, distributed team.

Our MarComs team has grown into a group of specialists across copy, design, social, email, and web. The team produces a lot. What it needs now is someone to connect the pieces, set priorities, and make sure every channel tells the same story.

You will turn Creshendo’s strategy into a working communications plan and lead the team that delivers it. You will make the calls on what we publish, when, and why. You will also build the systems, processes, and people that let the team run well without depending on any one person.

This is a senior role. You should be ready to own outcomes, manage people with care, and challenge ideas, including those from leadership, when the evidence points elsewhere.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Build and run the annual and quarterly communications plan, tied to Creshendo’s program, fundraising, and policy goals.
    • Own the monthly content calendar and weekly content pillars across all channels.
    • Plan and lead campaigns, launches, observances, and events from brief to results.
    • Manage and develop a remote team across copy, design, social media, email, and web.
    • Set clear priorities, assign work, and remove blockers.
    • Run regular check-ins and feedback, and help each team member grow in their craft.
    • Guard Creshendo’s voice and visual identity across everything we publish.
    • Make sure community members tell their own stories, with consent and their own framing.
    • Stop savior narratives, trauma marketing, and deficit language before they go out.
    • Set goals for each channel and report results to leadership in plain language.
    • Work with development and partnerships colleagues on funder materials, reports, and campaigns.
    • Coordinate with program teams so our communications reflect what is really happening on the ground.

    What You Bring

    • At least 7 years of experience in marketing or communications. This is required.
    • At least 2 of those years managing people or leading a team, including remote or volunteer contributors.
    • A track record of planning and running multichannel campaigns, with results you can explain.
    • Excellent writing and editing. You can give sharp, kind feedback on someone else’s draft.
    • Experience building processes that make a team faster and less dependent on any one person.
    • Comfort with data. You can set useful goals, read analytics, and turn numbers into decisions.
    • Experience telling real people’s stories with consent and care, especially people who are often misrepresented.
    • Calm, sound judgment on sensitive topics and public criticism.
    • Nice to have: lived experience of migration, or close ties to migrant communities.
    • Nice to have: experience in nonprofit, social enterprise, or community-led organizations.

If you have the 7+ years and most of the rest, apply anyway. We care more about judgment and leadership than a perfect checklist.

    What You’ll Gain

    • The chance to make meaningful contributions to a growing global nonprofit
    • An opportunity to shape a program or project from the inside out
    • A collaborative, mission-aligned team that values bold ideas and kind leadership
    • Creative freedom, flexible scheduling, and real impact
    • Portfolio-quality work and meaningful community connections

    How We Work

We operate with a G.Y.S.T. mindset: clarity over chaos, consistency over perfection, action over ego. If you’re someone who follows through, communicates clearly, and cares about doing things well, you’ll feel at home here.

This role is part of our Marketing Communications (MarComs) team and reports to the Director, Marketing Communications. Our MarComs team is global and remote. It includes an art director, copywriter, graphic designer, social media lead, email specialist, web developers, a proofreader, and interns. There is a bi-weekly team meeting on Fridays at 10:00am ET.

We plan in Asana, collaborate in Google Workspace, design in Canva, schedule through MetriCool, send email through ActiveCampaign, and publish on WordPress. We share drafts early, give direct feedback, and expect the same in return.

Every piece we publish faces a few simple questions. Does it protect dignity? Is it clear? Would a migrant community member recognize themselves in it? Would a careful funder trust it?

    How to Apply

Send an email to hr@creshendo.org with:

    1. Your resume/CV or LinkedIn profile.
    2. A short note (300 words or fewer) on how you would spend your first 90 days with a remote team of specialists.

Creshendo welcomes applicants of every background, nationality, and migration story.
