Be part of a growing movement building health, community power, and self-determination in the Black community. The One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market is calling on dedicated volunteers to help bring this vision to life during our 2026 season in North St. Louis.

Our Mission

To ensure access to fresh, healthy food for the Black community, end food apartheid, and build sustainable community commerce by strengthening relationships with Black farmers and vendors — advancing a real path toward African self-reliance and self-determination.

This is more than a farmers market — it’s a space where culture, health, and economic power come together. From fresh produce and African and Caribbean cuisine to local entrepreneurship and community programming, the market is a living example of what self-determined communities can build.

Volunteer Role

He who controls the food, controls the people.

Do have a passion for food justice? The OAON Farmers Market in North St. Louis is has been fighting against food insecurity since 2021 working with local food producers to offer local goods to our community through vending and through donation.

We need someone who is determined to close this gap. The ideal candidate should be in St. Louis, however all should apply as some tasks can be done remotely.

The Agricultural Outreach Specialist will build and maintain relationships with local farmers, growers, agricultural organizations, food justice groups, and community partners. This role will help identify opportunities for collaboration, including farmer participation in market events, farm support initiatives, educational programming, and partnerships that increase access to fresh food.

A key focus will be helping develop relationships with farmers and organizations willing to donate fresh produce for the community Fresh Food Giveaway held at every One Africa! One Nation! Farmers Market.

This is an opportunity to help build a stronger local food system, support Black and community-based agriculture, and advance the market's mission to challenge food apartheid through community-controlled solutions.

Great for: People with agricultural, food justice, community organizing, nonprofit, outreach, or relationship-building experience—or anyone passionate about connecting farmers and communities.
