Join the Institute for Regional Conservation and the City of Boca Raton for a unique EARTH DAY event at Spanish River Park! On Saturday, April 25th where volunteers will participate in a "BIOBLITZ" which is an educational citizen science project using the app iNaturalist. We will give an overview on how to use the app, and then we will go on a nature tour of Spanish River Park, recording and uploading our nature observations all over the park. Our observations will contribute to a growing body of knowledge that is needed to restore the sensitive ecosystems at Spanish River Park. We will also work on removing a small area of invasive plants that are causing harm to the ecosystem.
There is no experience required! So grab a friend and come out to help repair the essential biodiversity of the Spanish River Park. Whether this is your first volunteer event with us or you're a repeat volunteer, we are so excited to have you join the IRC family and see how much fun habitat restoration can be!
Please be sure to RSVP if you want to sign up to participate in this event.
We recommend that you wear closed toed shoes, and comfortable outdoor clothing, as you will be in full sun. We also recommend wearing a hat and sunscreen! Please bring a reusable water bottle and anything else that may make you comfortable in the outdoors! We will provide the rest.
We will send a reminder email before the event so please be sure you sign-up to receive the details.
When you arrive at the park, let the gate attendant know you are volunteering with IRC, that will grant you free park entrance.
