Urgent Need: Oakland's elementary school children are struggling in school. You can help them succeed in school and...life!

All you need is a caring heart and a desire to enable a child to learn foundational reading and math skills.

Tutors receive all the training, materials, and weekly coaching required to help a second or third-grade girl or boy catch up to grade level reading and math skills.

No prior experience is necessary, and we make it easy.

Here is how you can change the life of a child in Oakland:

• Provide one-on-one literacy tutoring each week
• Provide one-on-one math tutoring each week

Children Rising programs are structured so that it is easy for you to step in and be effective immediately. And you will work in a team environment supported by Children Rising staff and fellow tutors. The reward of watching a student gain critical skills as they rebuild their confidence and hope is priceless!

A few details:

• We provide tutor training throughout the entire year. A Children Rising volunteer coordinator will help you register for an upcoming date.
• The elementary schools we support are in the Oakland Unified School District throughout the City of Oakland.
• We work around your schedule. Clinics are in-person, during the school day throughout the week.
