Volunteer Podcast Series Management
Role title: Podcast Series Manager — Africa's Education Enablers Series Reports to: Webinar Services Team Lead Location: Remote Commitment: Ongoing across the full ten-episode run (not a single-episode role) Time commitment: ~3–5 hours/week during active weeks
About the role
Management runs the podcast series as a whole — scheduling, guest sourcing, Presenter support, and the handoff into the EduAid-Africa Journal after each episode. This role makes sure every episode has a confirmed Presenter, a confirmed topic (or an honest "not yet confirmed" status where that's genuinely the case, as with Episodes 8 & 9), and a usable write-up afterward.
What you'll actually do
- Own the master schedule for all ten episodes, coordinating with Presenters so no episode is left without a confirmed host.
- Source and confirm guests where an episode calls for one, briefing them on the episode's theme ahead of recording.
- Run the pre-recording briefing with that episode's Presenter and guest.
- Be the point of contact for anything needing a real-time decision during recording (a guest reschedule, a scope question).
- Ensure each episode's recording, key discussion points, and a real notable quote are captured and handed to whoever is writing that episode's EduAid-Africa Journal report, using the shared journal write-up layout (headline, dek, session meta, summary, key points, notable quote, recognition tie-in, what's-next, media checklist, status).
- Track confirmed vs. unconfirmed episodes and flag gaps early — Episodes 8 & 9 are the current example: genuinely open, not filled with a placeholder topic, and it's Management's job to get them confirmed or to keep flagging them honestly until they are.
- Coordinate with the Webinar Series Manager where an episode directly complements a webinar week (several episodes are companions to a specific webinar topic) so the two don't duplicate content or contradict each other.

What we're looking for
- Strong organisational follow-through — same as the webinar management role, this is measured by episodes actually happening on schedule with what they need.
- Comfortable coordinating multiple people (Presenters, guests, the write-up author) across a ten-episode run.
- Clear written communication for briefing and follow-up.
- Prior experience producing or managing a podcast, interview series, or similar recurring content is a strong plus.
- Available consistently across the full run (late August through late October 2026), not just for a couple of episodes.
How to apply
Apply via the NESA-Africa Idealist listing or the volunteer form on nesa.africa. Note your general availability across the series and any prior experience managing a podcast or recurring content series.
Schedule current as of the corrected 2026 timeline. Episodes 8 & 9 remain genuinely unconfirmed — this listing states that plainly rather than inventing a topic to fill the gap, consistent with every other listing in this series.

PODCAST SERIES MANAGEMENT
If you're selected: you'll own the technical hosting practicals for the series — setting up and running the Zoom (or equivalent) recording sessions, creating and distributing every episode's link, and working proactively toward booking speakers from every African region and the Diaspora across the ten-episode run, rather than defaulting to whoever's easiest to reach first.
PODCAST SERIES MANAGEMENT — How to Apply
- Confirm your availability first. This role runs the full ten-episode run (late August–October 2026) — make sure that span works before applying.
- Answer the two short application questions (the first three things you'd actually do to get Episodes 8 & 9 confirmed; your experience managing a podcast/recurring series and what you did about its hardest consistency problem).
- Submit your application via the NESA-Africa Idealist listing or the volunteer form at nesa.africa, including your general availability across the series.
- If shortlisted, you'll have a call with the Webinar Services Team Lead to walk through the full scope, including how this role coordinates with Webinar Management where episodes and webinar weeks connect.
- If confirmed, your first real task is setting up the technical recording infrastructure (Zoom or equivalent), creating and distributing episode links, and beginning outreach toward securing speakers from every African region and the Diaspora across the run.
- You'll be given access to the shared schedule, the journal write-up layout, and direct contact with Presenters once onboarded.
