    Volunteer STEM & Innovation Associate

Kasa Foundation is seeking a Volunteer STEM & Innovation Associate to support the continued development of Kasa Future Makers programmes, including Kasa Code Club, Kasa Robotics Lab, Kasa NextGen, and the CREATE African Grand Challenge.

The associate will research relevant STEM and AI education opportunities, identify learning resources and tools, support programme planning, and help Kasa maintain an organized understanding of emerging technologies, competitions, learning kits, and potential technical partners.

This is an ongoing internal support role. It does not replace Kasa’s curriculum developers, facilitators, mentors, or onsite implementation partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research age-appropriate STEM, coding, robotics, AI, engineering, and innovation resources.
    • Identify relevant learning tools, educational kits, competitions, platforms, and public resources.
    • Support planning and resource development for Kasa Future Makers programmes.
    • Review proposed resources for accessibility, relevance, age suitability, and alignment with Kasa’s programme pathways.
    • Maintain organized records of STEM resources, competitions, technology providers, and potential programme partners.
    • Monitor developments and good practices in STEM and AI education for children and youth.
    • Support the preparation of programme briefs, implementation resources, presentations, and partner-facing materials.
    • Help identify opportunities that can strengthen learner progression from foundational coding to innovation and robotics challenges.
    • Collaborate remotely with Kasa’s programme leadership and other contributors.
    • Complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines and communicate promptly about questions or delays.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background or demonstrated interest in STEM education, computer science, engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, educational technology, innovation, or youth development.
    • Strong online research and information-organization skills.
    • Ability to assess whether technical resources are appropriate for children and young people.
    • Clear written communication and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote, volunteer-led environment.
    • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Canva, Trello, or similar collaboration platforms.
    • Experience working with children, youth, schools, nonprofits, or education programmes is helpful but not required.
    • Professional proficiency in English is required; French is an asset.
    • Commitment to educational equity, safeguarding, responsible technology, and Kasa Foundation’s mission.

Students, early-career professionals, educators, engineers, technology professionals, and career changers with relevant experience or strong demonstrated interest are encouraged to apply.

    What Volunteers Can Expect

    • Meaningful involvement in STEM and AI education initiatives serving underserved young people.
    • Opportunities to contribute across coding, robotics, innovation, and competition pathways.
    • Collaboration with an international, mission-driven team.
    • Defined assignments, guidance, and feedback from Kasa’s programme leadership.
    • Professional experience supporting the development of an emerging nonprofit programme portfolio.
