We are seeking a volunteer Website Builder to help design and organize our nonprofit website. This role will support our visibility, storytelling, and ability to connect with volunteers, donors, and community partners. The ideal volunteer enjoys translating mission driven work into a clear, warm, and accessible online presence.
Build or redesign pages on our website using Wix
Organize site navigation to clearly reflect our mission, programs, and events
Help structure pages such as About Us, Programs, Get Involved, Donate, and Events
Ensure the site is mobile friendly and easy to navigate
Collaborate with leadership to reflect brand voice, tone, and values
Make basic recommendations for layout, accessibility, and user experience
Desired Skills
Experience building or managing websites, especially using Wix
Basic understanding of website layout, design, and user experience
Ability to translate written content into a clean, engaging web format
Strong communication skills and responsiveness
Respect for deadlines, scope, and volunteer boundaries

Alignment with Our Mission
Black Girl Joy centers Black women intentionally. All volunteers are expected to respect this focus and support the mission with care, humility, and cultural awareness. This is not a space for self promotion, marketing, or advancing personal agendas.
Communication
Primary communication will take place via email or designated group platforms shared by leadership. Please respond to messages within a reasonable timeframe, even if only to acknowledge receipt. If you are unable to fulfill a commitment, notify us as early as possible.
Commitment and Boundaries
Only sign up for roles you can reasonably commit to. This organization prioritizes rest and sustainability. Over commitment and burnout are not expected or encouraged. If your availability changes, communicate with us so adjustments can be made.
Professional Conduct
Volunteers are expected to treat all participants, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect and dignity. Volunteers must honor confidentiality when personal stories or sensitive information are shared. All instructions provided by event leads or organizational leadership should be followed. Disruptive, inappropriate, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated.
Representation of Black Girl Joy
When volunteering or attending events in an official capacity, volunteers represent Black Girl Joy. This includes in person interactions and online spaces. Communication should reflect our values of care, integrity, and inclusivity.
Use of Photos and Media
Photos or videos may be taken at events for promotional purposes. Volunteers who do not wish to be photographed should inform leadership in advance. Volunteers may not independently post or use photos of participants without permission.
Safety and Accessibility
Volunteers are expected to follow all safety guidelines shared for events or activities. Please inform leadership of any accessibility needs or concerns ahead of time. We aim to create inclusive spaces and welcome feedback that helps us improve.
