Volunteer Board Treasurer — Shared-Equity Senior Housing Nonprofit
Descripción
Descripción
Boomers Collaborative Foundation is an Austin-based nonprofit advancing a mixed-use, shared-equity housing model that helps older adults age in place together with dignity, stability, and mutual support. We are moving from founder-led development into broader board and volunteer leadership, and we are seeking committed volunteers who want to help build the systems, relationships, and community engagement needed to bring this model forward. We are looking for people who care about this work and are willing to learn with us. Relevant experience is helpful, but passion, steadiness, and follow-through matter deeply.
Boomers Collaborative Foundation seeks a volunteer Board Treasurer to provide board-level financial oversight as we strengthen our systems and prepare for the next stage of organizational growth.
We currently have volunteer bookkeeping support. This is not a standalone bookkeeping role. The Treasurer will help review financial reports, support budgeting and internal controls, and coordinate with the bookkeeper and President so the Board has accurate and timely financial information.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide board-level oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management
- Coordinate with our volunteer bookkeeper and President on monthly financial reporting
- Review bank balances, reconciliation status, and financial statements before board meetings
- Help maintain clear systems for tracking restricted and unrestricted funds
- Support annual budget preparation and budget monitoring
- Help strengthen internal controls as the organization grows
- Report to the Board at regular meetings
- Help prepare the organization for future grants, partnerships, and project development
Helpful experience:
- Nonprofit finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management
- Budgeting, financial reporting, or audit preparation
- QuickBooks or other accounting software
- Comfort working with small organizations in growth mode
- Interest in affordable housing, aging, cooperatives, community development, or economic security
Time commitment:
Approximately 4–8 hours per month, with more time during budget, tax, or transition periods.
Location:
Austin-area preferred. Most meetings are virtual.
Board financial commitment:
Board members make a tax-deductible financial commitment of $15 per month, or $180 annually. This is a board giving commitment, not a participation fee.
Final Board and committee assignments are subject to Boomers Collaborative Foundation’s review and approval process.
