    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Volunteer Director of Administration & People to join our team. As the Director of Administration & People will oversee the administrative and human resource operations of the organization. You will manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities related to planning, organizing, and implementing all people related and administrative functions. You will also be the primary point of contact for all matters as such and will ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.

    What You’ll do

    • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation
    • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of all administrative records and reports
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of all administrative staff
    • Manage the recruitment, selection, and training of new administrative/people employees
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the successful completion of administrative/people tasks
    • Provide support to other departments and executives as needed
    • Respond to inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
    • Perform any other administrative and people related duties as assigned
    • Align the people-related strategies to business objectives
    • Ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of HR programs and services
    • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning
    • Support performance review process, career development planning, performance, and management
    • Act as an HR consultant to line management when appropriate.

    What You Bring

    • Must be located in the United States of America, preferably in the Chicagoland area.·
    • Must have strong, effective written and spoken communication skills along with excellent research and organizational skills;
    • Must have evidence of and a commitment to practice a high level of confidentiality;
    • Must have strong experience in planning, organizing and carrying out the daily activities and administrative functions of a senior leader office in a sensitive, highly visible and dynamic and organizational environment, requiring management of multiple and rapidly changing priorities;
    • Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Org leadership, Business Administration and/or 2-5 years’ experience in a relevant field;
    • Must have strong office administrative and management practices and procedures;
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software and computer systems as well as advanced use of PowerPoint, spreadsheet, graphics and other business management software;
    • Must be flexible and be able to work in a high change, quick paced environment;
    • Should have basic nonprofit finance and accounting, general operations ordinances, rules, policies and procedures, or willing to learn;
    • Must be a team player and be willing to receive and act on the direction, and motivated to take on responsibility to completion;
    • Must be able to relate on a cross cultural level as well as display good personal and interpersonal skills in the office;
    • Should be self-motivated;
    • Should be available for occasional travel;
    • Must make a wide variety of organizational arrangements independently or from brief instructions;
    • Proficient in Google Suite and open to learning new tools.
    • Possess excellent crisis/conflict management skills and/or willing to learn.
    • Desire to learn and grow professionally in the field of non-profit
    • Engaging/responsive, and proactive communication
    • Adaptable, collaborative, and self-motivated
    • Establish and maintain highly professional effective working relationships with senior management, and other appointed officials, including staff, community and business leaders, donors, board members, and others encountered in the course of work
    • Use a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned groups and/or individuals
