PromiseMeasure is MAP’s division responsible for impact measurement, evaluation systems, and organizational learning. The division ensures that MAP’s programs are data-informed, outcomes-driven, and aligned with best practices in youth development and nonprofit evaluation.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a MEL Specialist (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MAP’s evaluation and impact measurement systems.

This role ensures that data is not only collected—but translated into insights that strengthen programs, inform decision-making, and demonstrate impact to stakeholders.

    • Support development and maintenance of data collection systems across programs
    • Ensure accurate tracking of student participation, engagement, and outcomes
    • Maintain organized and reliable data systems

    • Assist in analyzing program effectiveness and identifying trends
    • Contribute to development of impact reports and summaries

    Learning & Continuous Improvement

    • Translate data into actionable insights for program improvement
    • Support feedback loops between data, program teams, and leadership
    • Help identify opportunities to strengthen program design and delivery

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Assist in preparing reports for internal leadership, partners, and funders
    • Ensure data is clearly documented, structured, and accessible
    • Support alignment of reporting with grant and stakeholder requirements

    Cross-Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with program, education, and leadership teams
    • Support integration of MEL practices across all MAP programs
    • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience or strong interest in monitoring, evaluation, or data analysis
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly
    • Attention to detail and data accuracy
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience in nonprofit evaluation, education, or youth programs
    • Familiarity with MEL frameworks, logic models, or KPI development
    • Experience with data tools (e.g., spreadsheets, dashboards)
    • Background in research, statistics, or social sciences

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration

    What You’ll Gain

    • Experience in impact measurement and nonprofit evaluation
    • Collaboration with leadership and program teams
    • Professional references and letters of recommendation
    • A meaningful role strengthening data-informed decision-making and program impact

Interested candidates must apply directly through Idealist and submit:

    • Resume (required)
    • Cover letter (required) describing relevant experience in data, evaluation, or research and interest in MAP’s mission

Data tells the story of impact.

Help ensure that every program is not only meaningful—but measurable, accountable, and continuously improving.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our organization.
