    Descripción

Our nonprofit needs a graphic designer to professionally rebuild an illustrated map showing how hiking habits developed in the Catskills travel with people to hiking destinations across the United States and overseas.

We created an AI-generated image to develop the concept, but it is unsuitable as a finished website graphic. The geography is distorted, several destinations are positioned incorrectly, the text is difficult to read, and the arrows, labels, markers, and statistics compete for attention. The Catskills do not stand out clearly as the origin, and the connection between the Catskills and the approximately 30 million people who live within roughly a three-hour drive is unclear.

The completed graphic should allow viewers to quickly understand:

The Catskills are where these hiking habits begin.

Approximately 30 million people live within roughly a three-hour drive of the Catskills.

The habits people develop there travel with them across the country and around the world.

The Catskills should be the strongest visual element, with simple paths extending to the Adirondacks, White Mountains, Katahdin, Colorado Rockies, Grand Canyon, West Coast, and European Alps.

We have prepared a detailed designer brief, required wording, destination list, visual direction, and the AI concept image. We need a designer to rebuild the map with accurate geography, readable typography, clear visual hierarchy, and a professional illustrated-map appearance suitable for desktop and mobile website use.

By the end of the project, the volunteer will deliver a professionally designed illustrated map showing the Catskills as the starting point where hiking habits develop and how those habits travel to hiking destinations across the United States and overseas.

    The completed project will include:

An accurate, recognizable map with the Catskills as the strongest visual element.

Clearly positioned destinations, including the Adirondacks, White Mountains, Katahdin, Colorado Rockies, Grand Canyon, West Coast, and European Alps.

Simple visual paths extending from the Catskills to the other destinations.

A clear connection between the Catskills and the approximately 30 million people who live within roughly a three-hour drive.

Readable typography, balanced spacing, and a professional visual hierarchy.

A desktop website version and a mobile-friendly version.

    A high-resolution PNG and web-optimized files.

    The editable, layered source file.

A list of the sources and licenses for outside assets used.

Full ownership rights for our organization to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, and publish the completed design and source files.

Success means viewers can understand within a few seconds that hiking habits begin in the Catskills and travel with people across the country and around the world.
