Role Description
Direct care volunteers are our largest group of volunteers. Volunteers provide direct care to one or multiple campers with a wide range of disabilities, ensuring a joyful, safe and special camp experience for all campers.
Daily Responsibilities
- Assist campers with all daily routines
- Maintain a strong understanding of assigned camper’s medical needs, medications, and dietary differences
- This information is provided and opportunities to meet with medical team before meeting your camper, in addition to throughout your time with your camper
- Ensure clean and safe common spaces and living areas
- Attend all activities and programming
- Complete assigned daily chores
- Camper-first mentality - your camper determines what your day looks like!
Skills and Qualifications
- Being a thoughtful, creative, compassionate person
- Ability to work in a group setting
- Ability to care for another person for the duration of your time volunteering
- A desire to learn from others
- Ability to dedicate 1-2 weeks to directly caring for a camper
- Ability to maintain a substance free lifestyle for the duration of your time volunteering
- Passion for being in a community of all different abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in leading classes
Other Information
- All volunteers are eligible for up to $300 travel reimbursement
- Volunteers will be housed and fed for the duration of their stay
- For your time volunteering, you will be sleeping in a communal cabin with both campers and counselors
