Pro Bono Legal Advisor (Volunteer)

The Disque Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in July 2012. Its mission is to provide free advanced healthcare education to underserved populations in the United States and around the world. Through its online platform, the Foundation offers free and paid, fully online life-support training to people worldwide.

The Foundation operates within a multi-entity structure that includes both nonprofit and commercial components, with multi-state registrations and a remote international team of contractors across multiple countries.

The Foundation is seeking a mission-aligned pro bono legal advisor to provide occasional, practical guidance as it continues to grow.

Responsibilities may include reviewing documents and emails; advising on nonprofit compliance; reviewing contractor and employment matters across multiple states and internationally; providing guidance on CCPA, GDPR, and data privacy; and supporting basic trademark and intellectual-property matters.

The expected commitment is light: approximately 2 to 5 hours per month, primarily through asynchronous review of documents and emails, with occasional calls when needed.

The ideal advisor will bring experience in US nonprofit law, contractor compliance across multiple states and internationally, data privacy regulations (CCPA and GDPR), and basic trademark and IP matters. Familiarity with dual-entity or social enterprise structures is a plus. An active U.S. law license is required.

The role is intended to provide targeted, ongoing counsel to an established organization, rather than build a legal structure from the ground up.
