ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Lift Up Initiative is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit and support volunteers for our upcoming community-service projects, fundraising events, and donation drives.
The Lift Up Initiative is a youth-led social impact initiative that brings people together to support nonprofit organizations and communities regionally, throughout the United States, and internationally.
This unpaid position is ideal for a high school or college student seeking meaningful service hours, leadership experience, and hands-on experience in volunteer recruitment, community outreach, and team coordination. Adult volunteers are also welcome to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit volunteers through schools, colleges, student organizations, community groups, social media, and personal networks
- Respond to questions from prospective and current volunteers
- Maintain organized volunteer contact lists and schedules
- Match volunteers with appropriate tasks and event-day assignments
- Send volunteers reminders, instructions, and event updates
- Track volunteer attendance and completed service hours
- Help welcome, orient, and support volunteers
- Follow up with volunteers after events and encourage continued participation
- Work closely with the Event Coordinator and The Lift Up Initiative’s youth leadership team
UPCOMING PROJECTS MAY INCLUDE
- Fall fundraising campaigns supporting regional, national, and international nonprofit organizations
- Charity pickleball tournament
- Thanksgiving and Christmas food and essential-needs drive
- Winter coats/hats/gloves donation drive
- Additional community-service and fundraising projects
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- High school student, college student, or community member interested in service and social impact
- Friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable communicating with others
- Able to manage schedules, contact lists, email communications, and follow-up tasks
- Comfortable reaching out to schools, clubs, community organizations, and prospective volunteers
- Able to work independently while communicating regularly with our team
- Previous recruiting or volunteer experience is helpful but not required
TIME COMMITMENT
This is a flexible, project-based volunteer position. We anticipate approximately 3–5 hours per week during active planning periods, with additional opportunities before and during major events and donation drives. Scheduling can generally be arranged around school and other commitments.
LOCATION
Most recruitment and coordination responsibilities may be completed remotely. Some in-person opportunities may be available in Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C. region.

COMPENSATION
