    Descripción

    Research & Engineering Associate: Water Sampling (In-person)
    • This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
    • Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 6 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
    • STW(tm) welcomes volunteers who are seeking skill-based volunteering opportunity. STW(tm) shall provide "letter of recommendation" professionals who demonstrate outstanding contribution for professional references.

    OVERVIEW

    • Hybrid position in Ft. Lauderdale, FL

    Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 6 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide in-person water sampling support in the Marina Bay Laboratory (Ft. Lauderdale), Florida Everglades, and surrounding area

    • Conduct chemical and microbiological water quality experiments

    • Solve practical problems to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental and analytical tasks

    • Document observations, analyze data, and interpret results

    • Communicate findings and environmental recommendations via technical reports and presentation decks

    EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

    • Preference for post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, such as environmental science, chemistry, ecology, marine biology, or civil engineering

    • Experience conducting fieldwork, preferably in a marine environment

    • Experience conducting wet lab chemistry, microbiology, and/or water research experiments

    • Experience operating or working on a boat is an asset

    • Strong research, critical thinking, analytical, technical communication, and learning skills
