    Benefits and Conditions:

Volunteering oncologist with CMMB offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of women and children affected by cancer in underserved communities in Africa (Kenya, Zambia) and the Caribbean (Haiti), while applying and expanding your clinical expertise. This role provides scheduling flexibility, the opportunity to mentor and support local health teams, gain experience in global health, participate in virtual training initiatives, and connect with a network of international health professionals and global health leaders.

    Program Description

CMMB – Healthier Lives Worldwide is an international, faith-based NGO providing long-term, co-operative, medical and development aid to communities affected by poverty and unequal access to healthcare. For over a century, we have worked to strengthen and support communities through healthcare programs and initiatives, the distribution of medicines and medical supplies, and the placement of volunteers.

CMMB’s Children and Mothers Partnerships program (CHAMPS) provides effective support—and life-saving medical care—for pregnant women and newborns in eight communities across Haiti, Kenya, Peru, South Sudan, and Zambia.

CMMB’s Volunteer Program addresses the critical need for professionals in areas that lack sufficient resources for quality preventive and curative health services, especially for women and children. Our Volunteer Program has placed thousands of practitioners around the world to help develop and implement community health interventions, work at local hospitals and health facilities, conduct clinical training for host country counterparts, and deliver essential medicines and supplies. The ultimate goal of CMMB's Volunteer Program is to support our country teams and local healthcare workers by sending volunteers that are dedicated to strengthening local health systems and supporting a pattern of sustainable development.

    Position Summary

CMMB is seeking experienced volunteer oncologists to support its health programs in Africa and the Caribbean through a hybrid role. In this capacity, you will provide guidance on diagnosis, case review, and treatment planning, while also strengthening the capacity of local health teams. The primary focus is on cancers affecting women and children, alongside participation in community education, oncology care training sessions tailored to limited-resource settings, and support for early cancer detection initiatives.

This volunteer position requires flexibility and cultural competence, with the potential for in-person engagement when feasible. It offers a meaningful opportunity to apply specialized oncology expertise to global health challenges and to contribute to the sustainable development of healthcare systems in diverse international contexts.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Support the design and implementation of educational programs targeting low-income populations, with a primary focus on local and community-based healthcare providers, emphasizing the prevention, early detection, and management of various types of cancer.
    • Provide diagnostic support and develop evidence-based oncology treatment plans, while simultaneously promoting education regarding various types of cancer—with a special emphasis on cervical cancer and women's health.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support the development, implementation, and optimization of standardized oncology protocols and care pathways in Zambia, Kenya, and Haiti.
    • Develop and implement educational strategies regarding pain management—encompassing complementary non-pharmacological approaches, the recognition of warning signs, and the appropriate reporting of clinical changes—thereby promoting patient adherence and autonomy in pain control.
    • Contribute to the development and digital dissemination of community health education initiatives, including online materials, reports, newsletters, and visual resources focused on cancer prevention.

    Qualifications & Skill Requirements

    • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Oncology.
    • Valid medical license.
    • Minimum of one year of experience in the diagnosis and management of cancer.
    • Experience in clinical education or training of healthcare professionals is strongly desired.
    • Knowledge and experience managing cancers affecting women, including breast, cervical, and ovarian cancer.
    • Experience in pediatric oncology is a plus.
    • Knowledge of pharmacy considerations in oncology care, including chemotherapy administration and supportive treatments.
    • Experience in implementing cancer prevention, early detection, and screening programs, particularly in populations served in Kenya, Zambia, Haiti, or comparable low-resource settings.
    • Familiarity with standardized oncology protocols (SOPs) and evidence-based treatment guidelines.
    • Ability to develop or adapt clinical guidelines focused on cancers affecting women and children.
    • Experience in public health initiatives, community-based cancer education, and vaccination programs, including HPV vaccination.
    • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary and remote teams.
    • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations in low-resource settings.

    • Speak fluent French or Creole plus
