Retirement can open the door to something new—not another job, but an opportunity to use what you have learned throughout your life to make a difference for others.
Teshuvah Road Ministries, Inc. DBA Recovery Room 7 is looking for two caring, dependable born again believing individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors.
We are a Christian 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry helping people navigate a Bible based recovery through Jesus Christ, Biblical truth, discipleship, encouragement, and individualized recovery support.
YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCE MAY BE EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED
We are especially interested in hearing from retirees who have time, wisdom, common sense, compassion, and a desire to contribute to something meaningful.
You do not need to have been an executive, business owner, pastor, attorney, accountant, or nonprofit leader. You only have to been born again with a desire to make a difference.
You may have spent your life raising a family, caring for others, working in an office, teaching, building things, driving, serving customers, working in healthcare, managing a household, volunteering, operating a small business, or doing something completely different.
What you have learned through life matters.
We are looking for people who can listen, think, ask good questions, offer ideas, make responsible decisions, and genuinely care about the people our ministry serves.
NEVER SERVED ON A BOARD? PLEASE APPLY ANYWAY.
Previous Board of Directors experience is NOT required.
We will provide training and guidance to help you understand:
- What a nonprofit Board Director does
- Your basic responsibilities as a Director
- How our Board meetings and voting work
- Confidentiality and accountability
- How you can contribute your own strengths and experience
You will not be expected to arrive already knowing how everything works.
We will teach you.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A BOARD MEMBER?
As one of our volunteer Directors, you would:
- Participate in monthly online Board meetings through Zoom
- Review and vote on important organizational matters
- Offer ideas, perspective, and practical wisdom
- Help provide oversight and accountability
- Support the mission and direction of Recovery Room 7
- Help us make thoughtful decisions as the ministry grows
- Participate in discussions rather than simply having your name listed on Board paperwork
- Encourage and support the work being done to help people affected by addiction
This is an unpaid volunteer position.
We are not looking for someone who wants a full-time commitment. We are looking for people who will be dependable, communicate with us, participate when needed, and take their role seriously.
FAITH MATTERS TO OUR MISSION
Recovery Room 7 is a distinctly Christian ministry.
Our approach to addiction recovery is centered on Jesus Christ and Biblical truth. Board members should therefore be comfortable supporting our Christian mission, values, and the work we do.
You don't need to be a Bible scholar.
You do need to respect and support the Biblical foundation of the ministry.
WHO MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT?
You may be a wonderful fit if you are someone who:
- Is dependable and follows through
- Enjoys helping others
- Has good common sense and judgment
- Can respectfully share opinions and ideas
- Is willing to learn
- Communicates quickly when something needs attention
- Values honesty and accountability
- Wants to use this season of life for something meaningful
- Supports our Christian mission
We currently have two Board Director positions available.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send us a brief introduction telling us a little about yourself. A formal résumé is welcome, but it is NOT required.
Please include:
- A little about your life and work experience
- Why this opportunity interests you
- Why the mission of Recovery Room 7 appeals to you
- Any skills, interests, talents, or experiences you believe could be helpful
- Your general availability for Board meetings that last one hour, once a month
- The best way to contact you
Applicants selected to move forward will be asked to provide two personal or professional references with contact information. Formal reference letters are not necessary.
Final candidates will also sign a simple Board Service Agreement explaining participation expectations, confidentiality, and the basic responsibilities of serving as a nonprofit Director.
We will walk you through the process and provide the training and guidance you need.
MAYBE THIS IS YOUR NEXT WAY TO SERVE
Sometimes the most valuable thing you can bring to a ministry isn't a degree or a title. It is wisdom gained from living, the ability to see things clearly, a dependable character, and a willingness to care.
If you are retired and have been wondering where you could still make a meaningful contribution, we would be very glad to hear from you.
