Blood Pressure Screening Assistant (Volunteer)

Help support the health and well-being of older adults at UCOM’s Senior Mobile Pantry and Batch Meal Prep classes. As a Blood Pressure Screening Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming, respectful experience by offering basic blood pressure checks.

In this role, you will:

• Take blood pressure readings using provided equipment
• Help participants get comfortably seated and prepared for their screening
• Communicate readings calmly and respectfully, maintaining participant privacy
• Help maintain a clean, organized screening area between participants
• Assist with brief set-up and clean-up before and after the program

Position requirements

• Comfortable taking blood pressure readings or willing to complete training before volunteering
• Able to communicate clearly and kindly with older adults
• Comfortable standing for a 1-hour shift
• Able to lift at least 10 lbs and assist with light set-up or clean-up
• Reliable transportation for off-site mobile pantry locations
• Able to protect participant privacy and follow all program guidelines
• Willing to refer medical questions or concerning readings to the program manager or designated health professional rather than providing medical advice
