Become empowered to advocate for abused and neglected children here in the Shenandoah Valley. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate, you will be an independent voice and advocate for the best interests of a child during their time in the child welfare system.
CASAs get to know their child, review educational and medical records, and talk to everyone involved in a child’s life - social workers, parents, teachers, and family members. They prepare (with the support of their Advocate Manager) and submit reports to the Courts in which they advocate for the best interest of their child.
A child with a trained, dedicated CASA is more likely to find a safe and permanent home, to succeed in school, and most, importantly, they are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system.
CASA's have to be 21 years or older.
