About The Church of Spiritual Reconstruction

The Church of Spiritual Reconstruction is a newly developing religious organization based in Massachusetts and being built as a distinctive and inclusive spiritual community.

Our teachings draw upon religious, philosophical, spiritual, ethical, and cultural wisdom from many traditions while developing our own religious identity, principles, practices, and extensive body of spiritual literature, including our principal religious text, The Book of Renewal.

Our broader vision emphasizes spiritual and personal transformation, ethical reflection, the unity of humanity, meaningful knowledge, compassion, service, community, holistic living, peaceful coexistence, respect for the natural world, and the continuing renewal of individuals and society.

The Church is currently in its founding stage, with aspirations to develop a growing community of members, congregations, and affiliated groups in the United States and eventually internationally.

About the Role

The Church of Spiritual Reconstruction is seeking a Founding Director of Outreach and Congregational Development to help build the Church's community from its earliest stages.

The Director will work closely with the Founder to help introduce the Church to others, attract prospective members and volunteers, develop community relationships, and explore ways to establish future congregations, groups, and gatherings.

Because this is a founding-stage organization, the person selected will have considerable opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape how the Church approaches outreach, membership growth, and congregational development.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Helping develop strategies to introduce the Church to prospective members and participants.
• Helping recruit founding members and volunteers.
• Promoting awareness of the Church and its mission.
• Identifying opportunities for community outreach.
• Building relationships with religious, spiritual, civic, educational, cultural, and community organizations.
• Helping develop virtual and eventually in-person gatherings.
• Supporting the creation of local groups, study groups, communities, and future congregations.
• Helping welcome and engage individuals who express interest in the Church.
• Assisting with outreach materials and public communications.
• Helping develop approaches for membership growth and engagement.
• Supporting online and social media outreach when appropriate.
• Helping identify potential future congregational leaders and outreach volunteers.
• Contributing ideas for the Church's eventual national and international expansion.
• Participating in periodic planning and consultation with the Founder and other organizational leaders.

The responsibilities of this position may evolve as the Church grows.

Qualifications

No specific degree, professional background, or previous religious leadership experience is required.

We are primarily looking for someone who:

• Has an interest in helping a new religious organization grow.
• Is willing to learn about The Church of Spiritual Reconstruction and its mission.
• Can communicate respectfully with others.
• Is dependable and willing to stay in reasonable contact with the Founder and other members of the organization.
• Is comfortable contributing ideas and helping with outreach and community-building.
• Is open-minded toward people from different religious, spiritual, philosophical, and cultural backgrounds.
• Is willing to learn and grow with the organization.

Applicants from many different backgrounds, experience levels, and locations are welcome to apply. Previous experience in religion, outreach, community-building, communications, volunteerism, or nonprofit organizations is welcome but not required.

Commitment

This is an unpaid volunteer leadership position.

The position is primarily remote, and scheduling can be flexible. We are willing to work with the selected volunteer based on their availability and circumstances.

The title of Director represents a functional leadership role within the Church and does not automatically constitute appointment to the organization's legal Board of Directors or a statutory corporate office.
