Descripción
Descripción
Above & Beyond Education is seeking welcoming host families in the community to open their hearts and homes to international exchange students for the upcoming academic year. Hosting an exchange student is a deeply rewarding volunteer experience that brings the world directly to your family and community.
We are currently on a tight timeline to find placements for our remaining students, including two wonderful young women from Spain who are fully vetted, insured, and ready for their American adventure:
Meet Sara from Spain
Passions & Interests: Cooking, fitness, beach trips, crafts, and animal care
- Sara is a thoughtful, confident, and hardworking 15-year-old from Spain who will be entering the 11th grade. While she can be a bit reserved at first, she is incredibly kind, observant, and truly opens up once she feels comfortable. Having grown up traveling with her family, Sara is highly adaptable and open-minded. She developed a passion for cooking at a young age alongside her father and loves trying out new, healthy recipes. She values an active lifestyle, enjoys going to the gym, playing sports, and spending time at the beach or doing crafts. Fun fact: Sara dreams of becoming a future veterinarian! She is excited to build a deep connection with her host family and share her vibrant culture. (Note: Sara requests a home with no cats, please!)
Meet Patricia from Spain
Passions & Interests: Volleyball, choir, pop music & karaoke, and reading
- Patricia is a cheerful, friendly, and hardworking 14-year-old from Spain entering the 10th grade. She has a bright, social personality and absolutely loves being around people. Patricia is incredibly passionate about music—she sings in the choir, loves listening to pop music, and is always down for karaoke! She is also a dedicated athlete who loves playing volleyball and hopes to join her local American high school team. Patricia is an animal lover (with experience caring for birds and hamsters) and is fascinated by the legal system, dreaming of one day becoming a lawyer! Ever since visiting New York City at eight years old, she has dreamed of studying abroad, and she can't wait to jump into school activities and share new memories with a host family.
What is required to host?
Host families simply provide a safe, supportive home environment, a designated bed for the student (can share a room with a same-sex sibling close in age), and three daily meals. Families of all shapes and sizes make excellent hosts, including empty nesters, single parents, and families with young children. Above & Beyond Education provides 24/7 local coordinator support throughout the entire exchange period.
