Volunteers Needed: VACCEB Community Health Fair

(Especially need: Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Spanish interpreters)

Time: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM (set-up starts at 8:30 AM; the fair runs 10 AM–3 PM; clean-up ends by 4 PM)

About Us

For over 30 years, VACCEB has helped low-income immigrants, refugees, and seniors in the Bay Area. Twice a year, we hold a Health Fair where community members can get free health checks and learn how to stay healthy, all in a way that fits their language and culture.

Our Biggest Need: Medical Interpreters

Many of our guests speak Vietnamese, Cantonese, or Spanish and need help talking with the health workers at our medical stations. If you speak one of these languages, your help can make sure guests understand their results and get the care they need. This is the most important way you can support the fair.

What Services We Offer

• Flu and COVID-19 vaccines
• COVID-19 test kits
• A1C (diabetes) testing
• Blood pressure checks
• Blood glucose testing
• BMI (height and weight) checks
• Bone density screening
• Vision screening
• Oral (dental) screening
• Hepatitis B screening
• Mental health check-in
• Free health kits and wellness items
• Health education

What You Will Do

• Interpret for guests at medical stations (our top need)
• Help guests fill out forms in their own language
• Help set up before the event starts
• Check in and greet visitors
• Help guests find their way around and enjoy the vendors and activities
• Talk with visitors about VACCEB and our programs (community outreach)
• Help with small tasks like handing out meal tickets, raffle tickets, or forms
• Help with clean-up at the end
• Other tasks as needed on the day

Who We Are Looking For

• Especially: people who speak Vietnamese, Cantonese, or Spanish
• Also welcome: anyone with a friendly attitude and a willingness to help, even without a second language
• No experience needed — we'll show you what to do

What You Get

• A free meal (chicken, pork, or vegetarian)
• Free access to the health screenings and services at the fair
• A fun day meeting your neighbors, local vendors, and health workers
• The thanks of hundreds of seniors and families who count on this event
