About the Role The FACTS Initiative is seeking financially savvy, strategically minded professionals to join our Finance & Asset Management Committee.
Please note: This is strictly an advisory and governance role, not an operational staff position. You will not be expected to execute daily accounting tasks or bookkeeping. Instead, you will work collaboratively with other committee members to offer high-level guidance, review financial policies, and provide strategic recommendations to uphold our fiscal integrity.
Serving on a committee is an excellent way to use your professional skills for community impact. For volunteers interested in long-term leadership, committee service is also a great pathway to future roles on our Board of Directors!
What You Will Do (Governance & Oversight)
- Financial Oversight: Work with the committee to monitor the organization's fiscal health, track key financial trends, and identify potential financial risks or opportunities.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate on the review of the annual budget before it is presented to the board. Provide high-level recommendations to support the organization's long-term sustainability.
- Policy & Compliance: Help structure and review policies and guidelines for asset management that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborative Advisement: Assist the committee lead (the Asset Management Officer) in translating complex financial data into clear insights so the Board of Directors can make informed decisions.
- Executive Support: Offer strategic financial guidance to support the Executive Team without imposing on daily operational responsibilities.
Who We Are Looking For
- Professionals with strong analytical skills and a background in financial analysis, financial planning, or asset management.
- Strategic thinkers with the ability to collaboratively assess financial risks and opportunities at a high level.
- Excellent communicators who enjoy working in a team environment.
- Individuals with a high degree of personal integrity, attention to detail, and a strict commitment to financial responsibility and transparency.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 1 to 2 hours per week.
- Attendance and active participation in regular committee meetings.
- Occasional additional time as needed for annual budget reviews or audit planning.
Why Join Us? By serving on the Finance Committee, you will directly safeguard the resources of The FACTS Initiative, ensuring we have the financial stability required to continue providing critical, trauma-informed care to vulnerable children and families in our community.
