Role Summary

We are seeking a passionate and creative and a reliable volunteer blogger to help us share our organization's impact, highlight youth stories, and engage our community through compelling written content that resonate with young audiences.This remote-friendly position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your writing portfolio, gain experience in digital communications and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

• Write 2-4 blog posts per month (300-800 words each) on topics related to youth development, program highlights, and community impact
• Craft engaging stories that showcase the experiences and achievements of youth participants
• Develop content that aligns with our mission and resonates with our target audience
• Create content for special campaigns, events, and fundraising initiatives

Research and Planning

• Conduct interviews with staff, volunteers, and youth participants (with appropriate permissions)
• Research relevant topics in youth development, education, and community issues
• Collaborate with program staff to identify compelling story opportunities
• Stay informed about trends in nonprofit communications and youth-focused content

Content Strategy Support

• Contribute ideas for blog topics and content themes
• Help maintain an editorial calendar
• Ensure content is optimized for web and social media sharing
• Assist with content repurposing for newsletters, social media, and other communications

Ideal Candidate Profile Required Qualifications

• Strong written communication skills with excellent grammar and editing abilities
• Experience with blog writing, journalism, or creative writing (professional or personal)
• Genuine passion for youth development and nonprofit work
• Ability to write in an engaging, accessible style for diverse audiences
• Basic understanding of web writing best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience writing for nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
• Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of SEO principles
• Experience conducting interviews
• Social media literacy
• Background in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
