    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Digital Director is considered a department-level position and reports to the Director of Communications. The Digital Director shall act as the head of the Digital sub-department and as such, may determine certain procedures, functions, and positions within the limitations of the Bylaws. The Digital Director leads Beyond the Ballot’s digital strategy, ensuring our online presence drives grassroots engagement, mobilization, and fundraising. This role oversees all aspects of digital communications, from social media and email campaigns to web content and multimedia production, integrating rapid response communications with a proactive content calendar.

    The Digital Director manages a team of digital organizers, collaborates across departments to amplify campaigns, and ensures our digital work reflects Beyond the Ballot’s bold, progressive values. From content creation and brand storytelling, to analytics and platform growth, a core function of this role is ensuring a consistent and powerful narrative across all digital channels. Acting as both a strategist and hands-on producer, the Digital Director leads a team of digital organizers, creatives, and volunteers, while collaborating closely with Communications, Mobilization, Policy, and Fundraising teams to coordinate impactful, cross-platform campaigns.

    This is a fast-paced role that requires the ability to pivot quickly for rapid response. Due to the remote nature of work at Beyond the Ballot, this position can be performed in different time zones than the organization’s ‘central branch’.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education:

    High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or technical school preferred

    Work Experience:

    Prior work in the non-profit sector is highly preferred

    Experience in managing and mentoring staff, collaborating with different departments, and fostering a positive work culture

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy to grow audience engagement, mobilize supporters, and drive small-dollar donations

    Oversee daily content creation, scheduling, and publishing across all social media platforms

    Coordinate rapid response digital actions to breaking news and political developments withwas Beyond the Ballot’s Rapid Response Committee

    Supervise digital staff, interns, and volunteers, providing guidance, feedback, and training

    Collaborate with Communications, Mobilization, and Policy teams to integrate both strategic messaging and campaigns across all channels

    Manage email list including drafting, segmentation, testing, and performance tracking

    Maintain and update the organization’s website to ensure timely, relevant, and accessible content

    Track and analyze digital metrics, adjusting strategies to maximize reach and effectiveness

    Ensure brand consistency and adherence to Beyond the Ballot’s tone, style, and values

    Oversee multimedia production, including graphics, videos, and live-streamed events

    Stay current with emerging digital trends, tools, and best practices for progressive organizing

    PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods

    Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions

    Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer

    Environmental: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors

    Additional: Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments. Will require travel to multiple sites
