Learn how you can ignite potential and make lasting impact by joining our volunteer community!

Join us for a fun and informative event where you can learn about all the exciting ways you can get involved and make a difference in your community. If you're passionate about education, youth development, and social impact, there is a place for you in the Minds Matter SoCal community. No prior experience is needed - just your willingness to help and learn!

At Minds Matter SoCal, our volunteers are the heart of what we do. They work to empower low-income, high-achieving students by celebrating their voices, tackling challenges, and providing tailored support to help them achieve their college dreams. Whether you’re a first-gen student yourself, or interested in supporting your community, there are so many ways to make a meaningful impact as a mentor or writing coach.

We can't wait to meet you and show you how you can be a part of something bigger.

Note: Mentor and writing coach roles require a bachelor's degree (any field).

What Inspired Our Volunteers to Join?

    • "I was new to LA and looking for community. Minds Matter’s mission spoke to me, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it."
    • "I was inspired by the students-they’re hardworking, intentional, and it’s a privilege to support them."
    • "It’s so fun! Plus, there’s training and support, so you’re never alone in this journey."

About Minds Matter: Minds Matter connects driven and determined students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world. Every day we listen, learn, and grow with our students celebrating their voices and uniting behind their dreams. We believe a student’s zip code shouldn’t limit their opportunities for college or life. No matter where our students are from, they have strong visions for where they want to go. We work every day to deliver progressive and tailored programs that empower dreams, cultivate growth, and tackle challenges first generation/first in their family students face in their journey to college. Because college shouldn’t be a barrier - it should be a beginning.
