Help feed your neighbors in need as a volunteer with us! As a food bank volunteer, you directly contribute to our mission of providing nutritious food to people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. Volunteering with Nourish Pierce County is a great way to meet new people, serve an immediate need in the community, and have some fun!
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greet and welcome food bank guests
- Help check guests in
- Help load groceries in clients cars
- Within the food bank, help move boxes of food around and stage for distribution
- Sort and bag fresh produce
- Pack non-perishable grocery boxes
- Assist with food distribution and replenish food bins
- Clean food bank and assist with garbage disposal
- Interact with all volunteers, staff and clients with compassion, dignity, and respect
Skills Necessary:
- Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 20 pounds repeatedly throughout shifts
- Ability to work on your feet for several hours
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable in a busy environment
- Courtesy and helpfulness are expected
- Closed toe shoes and shirts with sleeves are required
- Basic computer skills (sign up for volunteer shifts online, assist with client check-in, etc)
- Good customer service skills and the ability to work in a team are required

- We review your application and conduct a WA State Patrol background check and will call and/or email you with orientation registration information by the end of the next business day following your application
- Register for and attend a 1 hour online or in person orientation
- Once you've attended the orientation, you can sign up for shifts and volunteer
