Volunteer Grant Writer
Rest Stop Ranch is a trusted and inclusive community destination for respite, recreation, education, and healing throughout and beyond the long-term-care journey. We provide spiritual-psycho-social- emotional support to long-term-care givers and receivers. We are seeking a detail- oriented and motivated volunteer to serve as our Grant Writer, securing the resources necessary to keep our gates open and our programs free-of-charge for the community.
The Successful Candidate for Grant Writer will:
- Research Opportunities: Identify and research grant opportunities from foundations,
corporations, and government agencies that align with our mission of providing accessible respite.
- Draft Proposals: Draft and submit compelling proposals for program funding, eectively communicating the impact of our wheelchair-accessible gardens and social support programs.
- Track Deadlines: Manage a submission calendar to ensure all grant applications and required reporting are submitted accurately and on time.
- Support Sustainability: Work to increase the nonprofit's financial capacity and long-term sustainability.
- Adhere to Care Policies: Maintain the standard that sta and volunteers provide social and spiritual support and are not responsible for direct physical care of guests.
Required Training & Skills
- Strong Writing Skills: Ability to write clear, persuasive, and professional copy that aligns with the
Rest Stop Ranch voice.
- Research Proficiency: Comfortable navigating online databases and foundation websites to find aligned funding sources.
- Organization: High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Compassion & Empathy: A strong desire to act for the mission and vision of Rest Stop Ranch and
support those on the long-term-care journey.
- Reliability: Ability to self-direct and work independently to meet organizational goals.
The Ideal Candidate
- Non-Profit Experience: Previous experience in non-profit development or professional grant
writing is highly recommended.
- Mission Alignment: Understanding the field of long-term-care and the unique needs of caregivers and care receivers.
Time Commitment & Frequency
- Flexible Schedule: This role offers flexible hours that can be completed primarily remotely with
periodic check-ins at the Caretaker’s Cottage or by Zoom.
- Commitment: Ideally, the volunteer will commit to 2–5 hours per week, depending on current grant cycles and submission deadlines.
