Descripción
You can help protect threatened shorebirds! Western Snowy Plovers are small birds that nest on the beach at UCSB's Coal Oil Point Reserve in Goleta. We are looking for volunteers to educate beach goers about the threatened status of the birds. Volunteers spend 2 hours a week on Sands Beach teaching the public about the Snowy Plovers, and requesting that people respect the plover habitat. For example, docents may ask people to exercise their dogs at another beach, or to avoid sensitive habitat areas of the beach.
