    ABOUT ADUD

African Diaspora United, Inc. is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2014. ADUD mobilizes African diaspora communities, professionals, volunteers, institutions and partners to advance humanitarian impact, community development, education, leadership, economic opportunity, and constructive engagement between the United States and Africa.

ADUD is undertaking an organization-wide relaunch and strengthening process that includes reviewing and updating programs, governance instruments, operating procedures, communications, digital systems, funding materials and implementation plans.

    PROJECT PURPOSE

ADUD seeks an experienced pro bono Website Redesign & Development Consultant to assess, strengthen and complete the organization's public-facing website as part of its relaunch.

The consultant will work from ADUD's existing website and staging environment, approved brand assets and finalized organizational content. The objective is to deliver a secure, responsive, accessible and maintainable website that clearly communicates ADUD's mission, programs, initiatives, impact, partnerships, volunteer opportunities and methods of support.

This is a bounded implementation project, not an indefinite webmaster assignment. The specific content-management system, hosting environment and approved integrations will be confirmed during discovery with the selected consultant.

    PROJECT SCOPE

    Discovery and Technical Assessment

      1. Review adud.org, the current staging environment, hosting configuration, content-management system, plugins, themes, forms and third-party integrations.
      2. Identify functional, usability, accessibility, security, performance, content-governance and maintenance gaps.
      3. Confirm the approved audience groups, website objectives, site map, navigation and launch priorities with ADUD leadership.
      4. Prepare a concise technical recommendation identifying what should be retained, repaired, replaced or deferred.
      5. Create an agreed implementation plan, schedule, dependency list and launch-readiness checklist.

    Design and Development

    1. Implement a professional, mobile-responsive design consistent with ADUD's approved visual identity.
    2. Build or refine approved page templates and reusable content components.
    3. Implement clear navigation for ADUD's organizational information, programs, initiatives, projects, partnerships, impact, news and engagement opportunities.
    4. Create or refine an appropriate digital home for The Voice of the African Diaspora® and related newsroom or publication content.
    5. Configure approved donation, volunteer, contact, newsletter-subscription and partnership-inquiry pathways.
    6. Apply foundational search-engine optimization, metadata, sitemap and structured content practices.
    7. Improve page speed, image handling and front-end performance within the available hosting environment.
    8. Apply practical accessibility measures, including keyboard navigation, readable contrast, heading structure, labels and alternative text workflows.
    9. Configure appropriate spam protection, backups, update procedures and basic security hardening within the approved platform.
    10. Implement analytics and measurement tools approved by ADUD.

    Content Migration and Publishing Support

    1. Place and format ADUD-approved content within the final site structure.
    2. Migrate or archive approved legacy content without creating unnecessary duplication.
    3. Create reusable page, article, program, event and publication templates where appropriate.
    4. Coordinate with the Managing Editor and Documentation Coordinator when content requires editorial or organizational review.
    5. Establish a simple content-review, approval and publishing workflow for authorized ADUD users.

    EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

    1. A written website and technical-environment assessment.
    2. An approved site map, navigation plan and implementation work plan.
    3. A functioning, responsive website completed first in the staging environment.
    4. Reusable page and content templates consistent with ADUD's approved brand and content structure.
    5. Configured and tested approved forms, links and third-party integrations.
    6. Foundational accessibility, search-engine optimization, performance and security improvements.
    7. A content-migration and legacy-content disposition record.
    8. A pre-launch quality-assurance and acceptance-testing report covering desktop, tablet and mobile use.
    9. A documented backup, update, administrator-access and routine-maintenance procedure.
    10. Administrator training and a concise website-management handoff guide.
    11. A launch and rollback plan approved by ADUD before production deployment.
    12. Up to two weeks of limited post-launch stabilization support for defects arising from the delivered work, subject to mutual agreement.

    ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

    1. The website functions across current major desktop and mobile browsers.
    2. Navigation, forms, downloads and approved integrations have been tested successfully.
    3. No placeholder content, broken links or unapproved draft material remains at launch.
    4. Authorized ADUD personnel can update routine content without developer assistance.
    5. Administrator credentials, source files, configuration details and documentation remain under ADUD control.
    6. Production deployment occurs only after written ADUD approval of the staging version and launch checklist.

    IDEAL CONSULTANT

    1. At least three years of professional or substantial portfolio experience in website development, CMS implementation or front-end development.
    2. Demonstrated experience delivering responsive nonprofit, association, public-interest or mission-driven websites.
    3. Experience with WordPress or comparable content-management systems; the selected platform will depend on ADUD's confirmed environment.
    4. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, forms, integrations, performance optimization, backups and website security practices.
    5. Practical understanding of web accessibility and accessible content structure.
    6. Ability to document technical work and train nontechnical administrators.
    7. Strong communication, project-management and scope-control skills.
    8. Interest in Africa, the African diaspora, international development, nonprofit communications or community service.

    PROJECT BOUNDARIES AND SAFEGUARDS

Unless separately approved in writing, this project does not include:

    1. Independent rewriting or approval of ADUD's organizational, programmatic, legal or policy content.
    2. A complete rebranding or replacement of ADUD's approved name, logo or visual identity.

    5. Collection or retention of banking, payment or donor credentials outside approved systems.
    6. Permanent website maintenance after the agreed project and stabilization period.
    7. Publication of content or production deployment without ADUD approval.

The consultant must protect confidential information, follow least-access principles, use only authorized accounts and return or remove access at project closeout. ADUD will retain ownership and administrative control of all approved site content, deliverables, configurations and project-specific source work, subject to applicable preexisting third-party licenses.
