Board of Directors Member (Volunteer)

We are recruiting 3–5 founding board members with serious expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• • Nonprofit governance, fundraising, or grant-writing (especially federal/USDA, NSF, or environmental foundation grants)
  • Environmental conservation, reforestation, or land-trust experience
  • Botany, forestry, plant pathology, or tree genetics (experience with American chestnut or similar restoration projects is a huge plus)
  • Finance, legal (nonprofit law), or marketing/communications

Prior board experience is strongly preferred but not required if you bring deep subject-matter expertise. What You’ll Do:

• • Help shape strategy and secure the organization’s first major grants in 2026–2027
  • Provide guidance on scientific partnerships, land-access agreements, and outreach

Attend 4 quarterly board meetings per year (90 minutes) and occasional committee work
