We are recruiting 3–5 founding board members with serious expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Nonprofit governance, fundraising, or grant-writing (especially federal/USDA, NSF, or environmental foundation grants)
- Environmental conservation, reforestation, or land-trust experience
- Botany, forestry, plant pathology, or tree genetics (experience with American chestnut or similar restoration projects is a huge plus)
- Finance, legal (nonprofit law), or marketing/communications
Prior board experience is strongly preferred but not required if you bring deep subject-matter expertise. What You’ll Do:
- Help shape strategy and secure the organization’s first major grants in 2026–2027
- Provide guidance on scientific partnerships, land-access agreements, and outreach
Attend 4 quarterly board meetings per year (90 minutes) and occasional committee work
