Wafa House is a nonprofit organization based in New Jersey dedicated to serving individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and abuse. The organization provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed services including crisis intervention, counseling, case management, legal advocacy, and community outreach. Internship Program Requirements / Job Description:
Wafa House offers a structured internship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, social services, and community engagement. Interns will gain exposure to real-world practices in supporting survivors of domestic violence while working alongside experienced professionals.
Interns may be placed in ONE of the following tracks based on interest, skills, and organizational needs:
Social Media Intern:
Assist with content creation for social media platforms, support awareness campaigns, develop graphics and captions, and track engagement analytics.
Case Management Intern:
Support case managers with supervised client-related tasks, observe service coordination, and learn trauma-informed care and advocacy practices while maintaining confidentiality.
Administrative Intern:
Assist with office operations, scheduling, data entry, and preparation of organizational materials and reports.
Outreach Intern:
Support community outreach efforts, assist with events, help build partnerships, and distribute educational materials.
Program Details:
Schedule: 2–4 days per week (flexible based on academic requirements)
Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week
Duration: Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters
Students are expected to complete 100–120 hours over a 15-week semester to receive academic credit.
Internships may be in-person, hybrid, or virtual, with required weekly supervision and mentorship.
Qualifications / Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Interest in social justice, domestic violence prevention, and community service.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship for academic credit. Students should ensure compliance with federal internship guidelines. Stipends may be available depending on funding and role.
