Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator

    Organization: Lhamen Foundation

Location: Remote (Bay Area candidates preferred for occasional in-person collaboration)

    Commitment: 5–15 hrs/week, flexible

    Compensation: Volunteer / unpaid

    About Lhamen Foundation

Lhamen — from the Tibetan lha (deity, divine) and men (medicine) — upholds the wisdom traditions of Central Asia and the Himalayas through Dharma, healing, chaplaincy, translation of sacred texts, and education. Our work continues the lineage of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche through Drubpon Pema Rigdzin ("Lama Freddie"), a teacher, healer, and chaplain dedicated to bridging ancient wisdom with the needs of the present.

    The Role

We're looking for a volunteer designer and social media coordinator to help us tell this story visually — across our website, social channels, and community communications. You'll help translate a centuries-old tradition into a visual presence that feels both scholarly and human, honoring the sacred while remaining accessible to newcomers.

    What you'll do

    • Design graphics, templates, and visual assets for social media, newsletters, and event promotion
    • Help plan and maintain a content calendar across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and others as relevant)
    • Source, edit, and curate photography in line with Lhamen's visual identity
    • Collaborate on the visual direction of the Foundation's website and print materials
    • Occasionally photograph or document teachings, ceremonies, and community events (with guidance on what is and isn't appropriate to share publicly)

    What we're looking for

    • Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar) and social media management
    • An eye for visual storytelling — someone who can hold both warmth and reverence in the same frame
    • Comfort working independently and communicating remotely
    • Genuine interest in or connection to Dharma, Himalayan wisdom traditions, or contemplative practice is a strong plus, though we welcome skilled designers still new to the tradition
    • Bay Area location a plus for occasional in-person shoots or events, but not required

    Why volunteer with us

You'll be part of preserving and sharing a living lineage — helping wisdom traditions that have survived centuries reach the people who need them today. This is meaningful, creative work with real editorial trust and room to shape how Lhamen shows up in the world.
