Postmarked with Love
Descripción
Descripción
Postmarked with Love is an opportunity for volunteers anywhere to send handwritten notes filled with words of hope, comfort, and love to individuals with Fanconi anemia (FA), caregivers, those grieving, or anyone affected by FA. These notes can be sent to offer support during especially difficult times or to celebrate milestones in their FA journey.
Register on our website (https://www.fanconi.org/explore/postmarked-with-love) as a volunteer and sign up for a volunteer orientation session. Feel free to invite your friends and family to register as well. The more the merrier!
Make cards and/or write notes! Maybe even consider hosting a virtual or in-person card making party with your friends and family! Let's have fun practicing community care together. Quarterly mail due dates for cards are located on our website.

Cómo participar como voluntario(a) en esta oportunidad
Become a Postmarked with Love Volunteer
Step One
Once signed up to volunteer, you will automatically be added to our volunteer email list. You will receive quarterly emails that will direct you to the Postmark recipient list – those who will receive cards that quarter. You must sign up as a volunteer to access the list of recipients. If you don't want to sign up as a volunteer, you may still send general cards that are not directed to specific individuals within the community.
Step Two
Register for a volunteer orientation
We offer virtual 10-minute orientation sessions where you can get to know the heart of FCF and the Postmarked with Love Program. If you are a new volunteer, schedule an orientation to learn more about how to participate in this program and tips and tricks for creating cards. For large groups, private events, or corporate events, we do require an orientation session with at least one participant.
Step Three
Make cards and/or write notes
Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to say to someone who is going through a challenging time for fear of saying the wrong thing. That’s why we created a guide with some suggestions of what to say and what not to say.
There are a few things to keep in mind when making cards:
- Please no medical advice or treatment suggestions
- Keep notes supportive of all as recipients come from all different backgrounds and are diverse in their genders, ethnicities, and beliefs.
- Be you! It’s okay to include inspiring quotes, silly jokes, or little details about yourself (nothing too personal).
- Some people are religious, some are not. Please be mindful of any religious comments, as they may be inappropriate for those with a different belief system.
