PODS300: Curriculum Lead New Trends in Computer Science

JerseySTEM provides free after school STEM classes to underserved middle school girls grade 5-8. The Curriculum Lead for "New Trends in Computer Science" will research, design and curate, format and test a set of 10 lessons (2 hours each) to introduce topics of Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in an age appropriate manner to the middle school girls.

This is a pro-bono volunteer position.

Responsibilities

• • Work with Program Design Team Lead and Community Engagement Team Lead to define overall goal of the designated course
  • Manage and support a team comprising of Curriculum Designers to:
    • Research existing curricula
    • Curate existing material and develop new material
    • Develop Google Classroom Material in 10 lessons
    • Produce both Teacher and Student material
    • Organize and document "Train the Trainer" sessions
    • Deliver the training to the Program Instructors
  • Attend a weekly team call for collaboration (TBD)

Qualifications

• Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap
• Experience designing curriculum related to Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity
• Familiarity with Science and Engineering standards for middle school students
• Experience with K-12 schools as a teacher, parent or former student professionally
• Familiarity with with New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Computer Science and Design Thinking
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
• Resourceful, can-do attitude
