    Dear Applicant,

The Yiddish Arts and Academic Association of North America (YAAANA) and its project called Yiddishland California, based in San Diego, California, are looking for a data management intern. The mission of YAAANA and Yiddishland California is to promote Yiddish language and culture through academic and artistic events. To learn more about the organization, please visit www.yiddishlandcalifornia.org.

We are currently seeking an organized, energetic, and diligent individual to assist us with data management-related tasks. The intern will be responsible for managing and maintaining digital records and data systems, developing structured workflows and tracking tools, ensuring data quality through cleaning and validation, and supporting reporting and data-driven initiatives. No knowledge of the Yiddish language is required. Familiarity with Jewish culture is a plus. Our interns receive free access to all YAAANA events and classes, as well as access to the YAAANA archives.

Internships are unpaid, but can be taken for college credit. This internship is remote.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    • Manage and maintain digital records and data systems in Google Drive, including folder structure, naming conventions, and data organization.
    • Oversee digital media assets (photos, videos, recordings), including uploading, verification, and backup processes.
    • Develop and maintain tracking systems (spreadsheets/forms) to monitor workflows, data, and project status.
    • Perform data cleaning, validation, and audits to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
    • Prepare structured datasets, summaries, and inputs to support reporting and data analysis.
    • Assist with data organization, retrieval, and coordination across platforms, and other related tasks if needed.

    Work Experience

    • Completion of relevant college-level coursework, such as progress towards a degree in marketing, finance, information systems, or a related field.
    • Strong organizational skills, administrative skills, and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency with file management and cloud storage systems, with a general understanding of Google Workspace and Salesforce.
    • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in a remote environment.
    • Strong initiative and time management.

    Skills Development

    • Gaining hands-on experience supporting the data management and organizational needs of an active nonprofit cultural and educational organization.
    • Developing skills in creating and maintaining structured data systems, workflows, and digital asset management processes.
    • Gaining exposure to the operations of a nonprofit organization dedicated to Jewish culture, heritage, education, and community engagement.
